Physiological Changes and Yield Components of Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) Lines as a Function of Water Deficit and Recovery in the Flowering Phase

چکیده
Since climate changes have caused water restrictions, safflower stands out as an alternative crop due to its adaptability restrictive soil and conditions. Thus, this research aimed evaluate the physiological yield performance of four lines (IMA 02, IMA 04, 14, 21) under two regimes [without deficiency—around 22% moisture content—100% field capacity (FC); with deficiency—50% FC]. The were imposed for 30 days during flowering phase, followed by rehydration 20 days. Water deficiency decreased relative content, potential, photosynthetic pigment contents, performance, maximum variable potential quantum PSII, electron transport rate, photochemical quenching. In contrast, it increased electrolyte leakage, use efficiency, non-photochemical decreases in efficiency a function reductions number capitula, 100-grain mass, harvest index, more significant which was considered susceptible changes. 21 tolerant because their variables components less affected restriction, they also showed recovery after compared 02. these can be recommended commercial use, breeding programs aiming select superior genotypes drought

Effect of plant growth regulators on oil yield and biodiesel production of safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.)
The aim of the present investigation was to determine the effect of plant growth regulators viz., kinetin, chlorocholine chloride (CCC) and salicylic acid (SA) on achene yield and oil quality of safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) cv. Thori pertaining to biodiesel production. The growth regulators were applied at 10M as foliar spray during flowering (140 days after sowing). Kinetin was highly e...

Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) is an oil seed crop that is grown not only for its edible oil but also for its applications as animal feed and plant-made pharmaceuticals. Historically, biometrical genetics played a crucial role in the improvement of safflower seed yield and its components, phenologic and morphologic traits, and nutritional properties including oil, fatty (linoleic, oleic, s...

Safflower (Carthamustinctorius L.) is an oilseed crop adapted to drought prone arid and semi-arid environments. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of water deficit stress on antioxidant activity, membrane stability index (MSI), leaf chlorophyll content, leaf area index (LAI) and their relationship with seed yield using 64 safflower genotypes grown under normal and water defici...
